Doulas
Most doulas provide birthing classes and postpartum care aside from the actual labor support.
-
Doulas are labor coaches that provide the physical and emotional support you need to push through labor and birth. They prioritize natural methods for pain management such as relaxation, breathing, movement, and positioning.
-
Having a doula present for labor and birth often time reduces the need for some medical interventions, such as cesarean deliveries or the use of forceps or a vacuum. It also increases both parents’ satisfaction with their birth experience.
-
The most important factor when choosing a doula is finding someone you trust and connect with since they will be your labor support when it’s go-time.
Hiring Postpartum Aid (postpartum doula)
A postpartum doula provides help with infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother–baby bonding, infant soothing, sleep scheduling, and basic newborn care.
A postpartum doula is there to help a new family in those first days and weeks after bringing home a new baby.
